Mental health has been a defining aspect of my journey. Through challenges and growth, I’ve learned the importance of self-awareness, resilience, and advocating for understanding and support.

Growing up, I faced several challenges, including the divorce of my parents, the euthanasia of my dog, the loss of my grandfather, and a sexual assault which deeply affected me.
These experiences led to depression, self-harm, and multiple suicide attempts during my adolescence.
At the time, seeking professional help wasn’t an option due to my family’s reluctance toward psychiatry and psychology. I also developed binge eating disorder (hyperphagia), which I later recognized as a mental health issue.

Living independently during my studies, I took the step to consult a psychiatrist and psychologist :

I am now actively working to understand my mental health through therapy and self-reflection. I am deeply passionate about learning how mental health impacts the mind and body, and I aim to support others on their journeys as well.
These experiences have taught me:
Mental health challenges do not define weakness—they reflect strength and the capacity to grow in ways others might not understand.

In 2023, I created an Instagram account to share my journey and raise awareness about mental health.
I wear T-shirts and hoodies with mental health messages and engage in discussions to break the stigma.
My goal is to challenge stereotypes, such as the idea that mental health struggles make someone “crazy” or “dangerous.”
I advocate for the understanding that mental health differences are just that—differences, not defects. These differences often come with unique strengths, such as heightened empathy and sensitivity.
